When should one use CALPSOR-C ointment?
Calcipotriol 0.005% plus Clobetasol 0.05% (CALPSOR-C) ointment is used for the treatment of moderate to severe plaque psoriasis. The ointment is available on prescription only.
What are the advantages of using CALPSOR-C ointment?
Since CALPSOR-C is a combination of topical vitamin D3 analogue with topical corticosteroid, it provides quick relief and is devoid of side effects that are normally seen with the long term usage of steroids or Calcipotriol. Various studies have proved the safety and efficacy of Calcipotriol and Clobetasol in mild to moderate plaque psoriasis.
The skin begins to improve in about the first week of using the ointment, with an improvement in signs and symptoms, and this continues whilst treatment carries on. It is important to understand that the combination of topical Calcipotriol with topical Clobetasol is not a cure for plaque psoriasis; it is a new way of controlling the hyperproliferation and hyperkeratosis associated with psoriasis.
